The Australian Government should engage actively with the community on matters related to data availability and use.
At a minimum, the National Data Custodian should regularly convene forums for consultation, to ensure community concerns about increased use of data are addressed.
The Government agrees with this recommendation.
The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet will work with the interim National Data Commissioner (NDC) on public engagement on matters of data availability and use. The NDC will establish public consultations processes no later than June 2018.
